Country Roads, Take me Home!Â
Born and raised in the stunning mountains of West Virginia, Charleston will always hold a special place in my heart. Renowned for its picturesque landscapes and charming town atmosphere, Charleston serves as the capital city of West Virginia. Whether you are a resident or a visitor, the sight of our State Capitol, crowned by its magnificent gold dome, is always striking. West Virginia boasts the most beautiful capitol building and government complex in the United States.
There are many places in Charley West to enjoy from the City to the outskirts of the county. Some of my favorite places to eat when I go home include:Â
Hussons Pizza, you can't go wrong! My family has been friends with the Hussons for many years. The qauilty of food has always been consistent and high qauilty. Being an avid travler, I still have to say that Hussons is MY FAVORITE pizza hands down! They have many locations, but we usually order close to home in Pinch.
Suzies Buscuits, located in South Charleston has one of my all time favorite buscuits. They are large, but, they use a melted cheese style, fresh eggs and meat. They are also known for Buscuits & Gravey, and all time favorite meal in WV.A.Â
Tudors Buscuits, located throughout West Virginia would be second to Suzies for me but still a very iconic spot for breakfast. They also have other meals throughout the day, mostly southern cooking.Â
Huskies Dairy Bar (North Charleston), absolutley my favorite hotdog stand anywhere. Hotdogs are not something I eat often, but when I do, this place is where it's at. The toppings like Chili, Slaw, Onions defenitly West Virginia style are so fresh and always consistant. I highly recommend!Â
Leonoro's Spaghetti House, Charleston is phenominal. I prefer for lunch to get their special which includes a pasta, salad, and bread. They have a great hommade sauce and the "house" salad dressing is second to none.Â
Pies n Pints, Charleston is a great Pizza shop in downtown. Located on Capitol Street, this resteraunt is a great place for pizza and brews. One of my fav's from this spot is the potato pizza. It is pretty much a baked potato on a pizza. Sounds unique, but i promise you it is the best!Â
Rio Grande Mexican, Nitro is the BEST mexican food in the Kanawha Valley! Consistant all my life, this was a staple in my household for dinner growing up. When Mom and Dad would say we were going to Rio, we were excited!Â
Omlette Shop, Beckley located approx. 45 min north of Charleston, this Waffle House style diner has some of the best breakfast & diner style food in West Virignia. If you are driving through, it is located off harper road just before tamarac. A great place to refule while traveling through.Â
West Virginia is often regarded as a border state between northern and southern regions, yet it embodies the essence of Southern hospitality, particularly in my hometown. If you seek to experience warmth from its residents, exceptional cuisine, and the charm of rural America, my home state is the perfect destination for you. You are always welcome here!
