Using NYC Transit:Â
Accessing JFK International by train seems complicated, but it is actually quite simple. My advice, pay attention to the signs!Â
The most important detail to using public transit in New York is paying attention to the direction of the train based on where you want to go, and ensuring you are looking at the signs. If you do this, you can’t go wrong. When you get on the train, look for the maps that illuminate each stop to tell you what stops the train will utilize. Also listen for the audible voice that will tell you the current stop, direction of the train, and the following stop.Â
John F. Kennedy International Airport:Â
From Manhattan -
If you are commuting to JFK from Manhattan or Queens the (E) Train is your best bet. Catch a Jamaica Bound “E” Train from your station to Jamaica/Air Train Station. Exit the train and proceed to the AirTran by following the signs. When you exit the platform, you will see and escalator as well as 3 elevators that are located to the right of the escalator. You can take either, however, I recommend taking the elevator to the third floor. Once exiting, you will walk directly across the platform into the air train terminal. Again, follow the signs. You will then proceed to the turnstiles to pay your fee either by MTA card, or use your apple pay/debit card tap to pay. Proceed to the Air train and board the train to “All Terminals.” You will then need to pay attenuation to the audible voicing for which terminal you are arriving or the overhead screen that will tell you the current stop and following stop. Just ensure you know what terminal your airline is departing from.Â
JFK from LGA (Airport to Airport):Â
There is no direct train from JFK to LGA, However, using public transit to get from airport to airport isn’t too complicated. From either terminal B or C at LGA,Â
follow the signs for the Q70 Laguardia Link. Board the Q70 Bus and ride to the Roosevelt Ave Subway Station. Exit the bus, and proceed to the station.
Follow the signs to the E Train toward “Jamaica.” You’ll then take the train to Jamaica/Airtrain Station. JFK to LGA:Â
Getting to LGA from JFK is simply reverse order. Exit your terminal and follow the signs for the Air Train. Take the train to Jamaica Station, and follow the signs for Subway. I recommend going out the door on the upper level platform toward the LIRR Trains and then walk directly across the platform to the elevators to the 1st floor. Then, enter the subway and follow the signs for the E Train toward “World Trade Center.” Take the train to Roosevelt Avenue and exit. You will then follow the signs for the Q70 Laguardia Link. Board the LGA Laguardia Link Bus and ride to your designated Terminal. The bus will stop at terminal B & C.Â
